It is gorgeous on the patios at both restaurants as we enter the summer season.  Friday and Saturday evenings have been exceedingly busy so please call ahead for reservations at Pizzeria Rustica or to get on the priority seating list at TAPAteria.  The patios are first come; first serve and cannot be reserved because of unpredictable weather.  We always note your preference for the patio if you call ahead and reservations at Pizzeria Rustica have priority on the patio.  











PIZZERIA RUSTICA NEWS:

LAST WINE DINNER OF THE SEASON. On Tuesday, May 8th, TAPAteria Executive Chef Jay Gust will be pairing classic Piemontese cuisine with wines selected from fine Italian producer Damilano for our Passport to Piedmont Barolo Wine Dinner.  Therese Campbell from Vias Wine Imports will be in the house to expand our knowledge of these fine Piemontese wines, including TWO Barolos!   Please see the menu and wine pairings below and call to reserve right away with Coaltrain Wine & Spirits at 719-475-9700.  This dinner is already 60% sold as of the release of this newsletter.  Monthly wine dinners will return again in September.

SUMMER HOURS. Summer hours will begin at Pizzeria Rustica on Tuesday, May 15th.  We will be open Tuesday-Sunday from 12-9pm continuously for lunch, cocktails, and dinner and Closed Mondays. 

RUSTICATER. Check out the new web page for our Rusticater trailered wood oven.  We can do pizzas, antipasti, and even dessert for your events - and the wood oven show is always a hit.  We also partner with a number of the area's finest caterers for full-service catering.  If we can help make your event special please call us at 719-632-8121 or e-mail info@pizzeriarustica.com. 

TERRITORY DAYS. Colorado Springs' largest street fair is almost upon us. Colorado Ave is closed to traffic from 23rd to 27th Streets on Sat, May 26th; Sun, May 27th; and Mon, May 28th (Memorial Day). Pizzeria Rustica will be serving a special menu on the patio and the Rusticater will be serving slices behind the restaurant off 26th St. If you are making a reservation Memorial Day weekend, be sure to allow extra travel and parking time.  For more on Territory Days click here. If you want to avoid the peak parking hassles, there is a shuttle from Coronado High School.  Please note that Pizzeria Rustica will be CLOSED on Monday, May 28th - Memorial Day, but TAPAteria will be OPEN.
 
COLORADO COLLEGE GRADUATION.
  We have experienced very high demand for large group reservations on Sunday, May 20th - the evening before graduation - so we will be opening on Monday, May 21st from 12pm-9pm to accommodate diners for lunch/dinner after graduation.   



TAPAteria NEWS:

TAPAteria's SUMMER HOURS.  Summer hours start Sunday, Apr 29th with a sold-out Paella on the Patio event with Chef Jay Gust at 5pm.  Beginning, May 1st, TAPAteria will be open Tuesday-Sunday 11:30am-Close.  We have a number of other special events upcoming:

- Tuesday, May 1st, 5pm - Slow Food Ham & Jam.  We will be hand slicing one of our Colorado serrano ham legs and pairing it with  a 12 month aged raw milk manchego, a local cranberry chevre, dried fruit, candied nuts, membrillo fig jam, and a glass of Spanish chardonnay, cabernet, sangria, or a beer for $19.95 + tax & tip.  Reservations required at 719-471-TAPA (8272).

 - Tuesday, May 15th, 4-6pm - Official release of our private label TAPAteria Tempranillo from our friends at Bookcliff Vineyards.  This Happy Hour will include two special tapas and a glass of our TAPAteria tempranillo for $19.95 + tax & tip. Reservations recommended at 719-471-TAPA (8272).

- Wednesday, May 16th, 5pm - We welcome back from Spain Veleta vintner Dr Juan Palomar from Bodega Dominio Buenavista to talk about his great wines from the Granada area of Spain.  Four tapas paired with four Veleta wines for $39.95 + tax & tip.  This event sells out quickly so please reserve early at 719-471-TAPA (8272).

- Monday, May 28th, 11:30-Close.  
- TAPAteria will be OPEN on Memorial Day so take a break from the Territory Days crowds and enjoyed a relaxed drink on our secluded and covered rear patio.

- Sunday, June 3rd, 5pm  - Paella on the Patio with Chef Jay Gust.  $29.95 + tax & tip includes a glass of Spanish chardonnay, cabernet, sangria, or a beer.   Reservations required at 719-471-TAPA (8272).
